Capital Region with Paula

One of my favourite flydrive itineraries is Capital Region USA where you can combine famous landmarks, historical sites, great beaches and beautiful scenery. What better way to start the trip than enjoying breakfast in 51st and Green having cleared US customs in Dublin. to enable you to avoid queues upon arrival in the US. The direct United Airlines service has you in the US capital in less than 8 hours. Washington DC has so much to do and see and the Hop-on Hop-off bus is a fantastic way to see the city. A drink in the rooftop bar of the W Hotel is a must whilst looking down on the White House and don’t forget to take a look inside the lobby of the beautiful Willard Hotel where the term ‘lobbyist’ was first used. Our home for two nights was the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel located in Arlington and just a few stops by metro from downtown Washington DC. The hotel is just one stop from Arlington Cemetery, a must see when here, where you can enjoy the trolley tour and witness the famous Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier. The hotel lived up to Marriott high standards and a shuttle bus operates to Ronald Reagan airport making it very convenient to collect our Hertz car and commence our road trip.
